The 2026 edition of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, held across two weekends in April at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, once again set the standard for large-scale festival production. On the Outdoor theatre stage, alt-rock artist Sombr delivered a visually striking show, with a wall of 114 PROLIGHTS HaluPix Duo defining the stage design.

Creative Director Alex Reardon and Lighting Designer Stu Dingley of Silent House leveraged the fixture's dual-source design to drive two distinct visual modes within the same rig. In beam mode, the warm white sources delivered a dense, uniform blinder effect across the entire wall: a classic, high-impact look scaled to festival proportions. Switched to pixel mode, the same surface became a graphic display, rendering large-format text and pre-rendered visual content alongside live footage, dissolving the boundary between the lighting system and the show's video design. The fixture's output proved particularly striking during the golden hour of the desert, where throw distance and intensity outdoors remained fully effective.

Drawing on four decades in the industry, Alex Reardon commented: "I've been in this magnificent and bonkers industry for roughly 40 years. In that time, I've seen some new products come onto the market that have been truly revolutionary. I am so glad that the very clever people at PROLIGHTS decided to take the gamble and come up with something absolutely incredible. All-too-often companies play it 'safe' and spectacularly underwhelm, this is very much not the case with HaluPix Duo! When I first saw it, I knew I had to find a way to incorporate it into a show. I was absolutely delighted with the results. This is a product that I wholeheartedly endorse, just use with caution, it is bright!" 

Disguise programming was handled by Andrew Gange, with rental company Volt managing the lighting production. The fixtures were supplied by A.C. Americas, official PROLIGHTS distributor for North America.

The HaluPix Duo's appearance at Coachella 2026 confirms its growing presence on the highest-profile stages in live music, where its combination of raw output and per-pixel creative control continues to open new possibilities for lighting designers.
