Vilniaus Kolegija, known internationally as Vilnius College of Applied Sciences, is the largest higher education college in Lithuania, with around 6,500 students across nine faculties. The college has unveiled a new multifunctional event venue designed to support education, creativity and professional events, serving students and staff while also giving the city of Vilnius a modern platform for cultural, business and community events.
With a capacity of up to 500 people, the hall forms part of the College's developing ArtSpace Centre, which brings together facilities for visual arts, performing arts and creative collaboration, and is built to host conferences, performances, creative projects, discussions, academic gatherings and a wide range of public events.
“The goal was to create a venue that could easily adapt to a wide variety of uses,” says Mindaugas Indrašius, Technical Director at SONUS, PROLIGHTS' distributor in Lithuania that supplied the fixtures. "The truss-by-truss balance of wash and hybrid fixtures reflects exactly that brief, giving each configuration of the room its own lighting response rather than a single fixed rig stretched to cover every scenario,” Indrašius adds.
Four trusses carry the rig through the hall: one dedicated to front light, three suspended above the stage.
Front light runs on 8 Jet Profile300LT, a 300W LED profile moving head, chosen for its precision in cutting and shaping the beam, the right tool for a fixed key light covering the room from the auditorium side.
The truss nearest the audience is the leanest of the three: 6 Astra Wash7Pix and 6 Astra Hybrid330 backed by a single SunBlast 3000FC, a position built for precision rather than raw coverage. The Astra Wash7Pix's fast zoom and the Astra Hybrid330's dual beam-spot nature let this position shift from a tight beam to a full wash as the room changes configuration, while the SunBlast 3000FC adds the punch the front-most position needs without overwhelming it.
The centre truss takes on the bulk of the wash work, with 10 Astra Wash7Pix, the highest count anywhere in the rig, alongside 6 Astra Hybrid330 and 2 SunBlast 3000FC, giving the hall its main source of even stage coverage.
The furthest truss upstage shifts the emphasis again, carrying 7 Astra Hybrid330, together with 8 Astra Wash7Pix and 2 SunBlast 3000FC, leaning on the Astra Hybrid330's beam output to add depth and effects work furthest from the audience. Across the three trusses, the rig totals 24 Astra Wash7Pix and 19 Astra Hybrid330 overhead, with 5 SunBlast 3000FC adding punch at every stage position.
On the floor, 6 EclCyclorama 050 wash the front of the stage: a wide linear cyc and flood light designed for even coverage across a backdrop or wall. Behind them, 12 LumiPix 8H hold the back line, compact eight-cell LED pixel battens that close the rig from below with accents, backlighting or graphic pixel effects.
A single rig that reconfigures with the room, following the telescopic seating through every setup the hall calls for, is exactly the kind of adaptability that modern multifunctional venues demand, and it confirms PROLIGHTS' ability to deliver flexible, scalable lighting systems that adapt to any space and any programme.
