PROLIGHTS Products Illuminate the New PBS News Studio

17 July 2024

PROLIGHTS products are part of the new lighting setup for the PBS News studio. The studio embraces a modern and minimalist design in line with the rebranding of the broadcast, which changes its graphics, logo, and name, transitioning from PBS NewsHour to PBS News.

The expansion and new design of the studio required an upgrade to the lighting setup to be more sophisticated and modern, in line with the new image of the program. WETA, the production house of PBS News, entrusted lighting designers Dennis Size and Alex Kyle-Dipietropaolo from The Lighting Design Group, a company specialized in lighting for TV and broadcast, to develop a new system.

The two lighting designers designed the system which includes over 120 PROLIGHTS fixtures, including EclProfile CT+ and EclPanel TWC; both equipped with Spektra calibration, they offer a high-level color range and white reproduction, providing optimal performance for a live broadcast studio like PBS News.

The lighting fixtures for the PBS News Studio were supplied by Barbizon Lighting Company in Alexandria, VA with support from A.C. Lighting Inc.,the PROLIGHTS distributor in North America. "The exceptional luminous output and color of the PROLIGHTS fixtures make them the ideal solution for any high-level television and film production. The result of the new PBS News set is fantastic, and we are delighted to have been part of the project," stated the team at A.C. Lighting Inc.
